   The gateway to various coastal towns n the East. Chon Buri is about 80 kilometers southeast of Bangkok. Administratively, there are ten Amphoe (districts), namely, Muang Chon Buri, None Yai, Phanat Nikhom, Ban Bung, Phan Thong, Bo Thong, Si Racha, Bang Lumung, Sattahip and Ko Si Chang.
What to see and do
   Pattaya is 147 kilometers southeast of Bangkok, and faces the Gulf of Thailand. Pattaya is Asia's premier beach resort, and caters with equal appeal to Pattaya's relaxing tropical ambience is synonymous with every ingredient for memorable holidays.
    Theme and amusement parks, offbeat museums and lush botanical gardens offer numerous forms of leisure activities and cultural entertainment for all family members.
    And after dark, Pattaya offers all the allure and magic of a truly vibrant nightlife with a spectacular variety of restaurants, night clubs, bars, discotheques, cocktail lounges and carbarets. Pattaya can be brash, bold, beautiful and bucolic, and offers everything an authentic international beach resort can.
Koh Larn
situated to the West of Pattaya Strait, about 7.7 Kilometers from the shore, covering an area of about 4 square kilometers. There are beautiful beaches, clear water, and an abundance of coral.
Jomtien Beach
is a km.-long beach and only 4 kilometres from pattaya. A beach road runs parallel to the shore along which are hotels and other accommodation facilities Less noisy than Pattaya, It is popular as a site for relaxation, swimming and water sports.
Sri Racha Tiger Zoo
It boast Thailand's largest number of Bengal Tigers, bred successfully by farm ifself. There is also large number of other animals such as crocodiles, ostriches, single hump camels, kangaroos and an aviary of exotic birds.
Bang Saen Beach
is a famous beach that has enjoyed lasting popularity. Approximately 13 kilometers fromthe city of Chonburi, it branches off to the right-hand side from Sukhumvit Highway, at kilometers 104. for a distance of 3 kilometers. Stretching along the beachfront, is a 2.5 kilometers road. Along the beach, one finds vendors offering drinks and seafood snacks such as squid, mussels and spicy steamed-fish-cakes for sale. One can rent deck chairs and rubber rings for swimming. Fresh water bathing facilities are also available.
Khao Kiew open zoo
The open zoo operated by Dusit Zoo Authority (Khao Din Wana) in Bangkok, has a large number of animals such as deer, bulls, monkies, gibbons, hippopotami, bears, kongaroos, banteng, elephants and peacocks etc. Visitors can stroll around the grounds and observe the animals closely. there is also a large aviary with hundreds of varieties of birds covering and area of around 5 rai that visitors can also enter for close viewing.

Khao Sam Muk
is a small hill in between Ang Sila village and Bang Saen Beach, along the beachside road from Ang Sila that winds up Sam Muk Hill. At the foot of the hill. Chao Mae Khao Sam Muk) who is widely venerated by the public. The cliff overlooking the sea has become a tourist spot where legend has it that a couple tragically ended their lives together after having vowed their eternal love for each other. The Sam Muk Hill area is inhabited by a larger number of wild monkeys and beautiful cactuses garden.

The Institute of Marine Science of the Burapha University
The University operates a modern aquarium with real underwater environment and a marine science museum which opens daily, except Monday, from 4.30 p.m. For more information, call (038) 391671-4.

Nong Mon Market
This market is located on Sukhumvit Road along the way to Bang Saen and has gained popularity over the years. Nong Mon Market offers a vast variety of locally produced seafood products such as fish, squid, and shrimp, both fresh and preserved. In addition, sweets and other local sweetmeats are also popular with the most popular item being Khao Larm – a traditional thai-style dessert cooked and served in a bamboo tube.

Festivals and Fairs

The Buffalo Day
Chon Buri Buffalo Race is a long-established celebration of this most useful animal of Thai farmers. A fun-filled event, it is held not only in Chon Buri itself but also in Ban Bung and Nong Yai districts. The beasts of burden are dressed outragerously or with admirable creativity by owners depending on their imagination. Assembled in the courtyard in front of the townhall, the buffaloes partake in racing, or take part in physical fitness and “fashion” contests.
